I just set up a new 28g nano cube, and I got 2 maxi jet 1200's. For me it is a lot of flow and it kept on kicking up the sand bed. So right now I am just using one and leaving one return nozzle un powered. Is there any drop backs to doing this except less flow? Thanks.

I don't see a problem with it at all. But you will have to be the judge of how it effects your tank on down the road. :) Welcome to R2R.

Thanks! Finally decided to make an account! And if it affects my tank down the road it won't be filtration right? Because I feel that one 1200 is equal to two 600s so both would move the same amount of water to be filtered right?

Is it a JBJ 28g nano? Mine came with a wave maker that alternates one at a time. I upgraded to 2 maxi jet 1200's and alternating one at a time with an additional 240 gph Hydor nano running continuously works fine. Sometimes I'll run both 1200's for a few minutes to stir everything up before a water change (I call it storm mode). Did you alter or delete the nozzles in the tank?

HHaha storm mode! I did not alter the nozzles and yes it is a 28g nano cube! I just bought the tank with no pumps or lights because I have a sundial pendant!

And since I'm only running one pump one chamber is kinda just chillen can this be bad?!
