Purchased Platinum Maroons I think

Hi. I recently purchased a pair of Platinum Maroon Clownfish. Supposedly they breed but I bought them for my 180 gallon predator reef. The guy say they were 3-4" which I needed them to be. We met halfway so when they were only 2" I still bought them. The thing is the guy said they were four years old. Us that normal that a Maroon would o ly be about 2 1/4" at 4 years old? So they are too small at 2" for 180. I guess I just making sure they are Maroons

That appears to be a maroon and they are fairly aggressive and able to.endure with aggressive fish, as long as they don’t get swallowed?

I posted this before I say you message. mine look similar but they do not have the white spot on the cheek. Also they appear to be orange not Maroon.

Well the picture is not of my fish. It turns out its from Petco. My fish appear to he orange. I cannot say for sure. But he said they were 4 years old and they should he much bigger I think. I just moved them where i can see them better. I have never had Maroons get bullied. I think these are Ocellaris. Maybe not they look more maroon than orange. This is best Pic i can get right now of mine.

A pic of the fish you bought would help with an ID. I can see a male being that small but not a female maroon

Color can vary but the body shape of a M clown is stout, like a boxer dog they are fat and aggressive towards competitors, and hands and fins that invade their space.

That first pic looks like a Gold Nugget Maroon clownfish that hasn't developed the yellow yet.

As far as age it all depends. My guess based on lack of full yellow is that they are not 4 years. But clownfish can grow at different rates. Male maroons can stay at 2" for over 10 years (IME) while breeding with a female that keeps growing and growing.

I will try to get pics. These are both almost identical in size. I think they were raised together because I have never seen two Maroons the same size get along. And yes my Maroons used to bite my hand when in the tank. So I was suprised when these got bullied.

Here are pics. I think that they are White Platinum Maroons. They look like them. These are the same size. I was wondering how long before they get big. I had Gold Striped Maroons and Common Maroons and they never got bullied even with ten Triggerfish including a clown and an undulated. But these got bullied right out of my 180.

I have a maroon lighting and he has that same white spot on the front of his mouth.
And the white around his and shape look similar. I will see if I can dang a pic.

Not the same angles. They just ate so he’s still up top trying to eat some more.

Your first pic it looked like Gold nugget marron from the yellow starting to show on the face.

Second pic makes them look like platinum. Or they could be younger Gold nuggets not showing yellow yet. Unless they really are 4 years old then I'd say platinum.
