Purple Firefish

I've been lucky that I bought a Purple Firefish about 2 months ago and it's very social, and not very shy. I have noticed in the last week or two, it's swimming to the surface more, and hanging around my powerhead. Other than that, it's eating like normal and doesn't show any signs of distress. Just wanted to get the opinions of Those of you that have a lot of experience with firefish, and if this not a big deal.

I'm not sure the exact flow, but it's a 25 gallon tank and I'm running a powerhead on the left side and the return is on the right. The return pump wasn't enough flow, so I added a Voyager Nano Pump. I don't think the overall flow is too much because no other fish is getting blown away, and my zoas are all open. He's not constantly going to the surface, just a little more than usual. I'll try to take a Picture.

Thanks for your input. He still goes to his little bolt hole, just been hanging around the surface more lately.

Only when it's hanging around the surface, when its swimming around like normal, it's body is straight.

I'm willing to adjust something if anyone thinks that's really out of the ordinary for a firefish. I had a firefish in the past around 15 years, and I don't remember it ever hanging around at the surface.

We had a firefish ( not a purple ) start hanging around the surface and hiding around anything that was on the glass algae magnet , ammonia badge etc. Then we noticed bite marks out of its tail and fins and realized it was being picked on. Never saw the aggression . We put it in another tank and it's been fine since

Thank you. So far I don't see him being picked on, but who knows when the lights are off. My two clowns are sweethearts, so if anyone is picking on it, it's my Royal Gramma, but he's pretty cool for the most part.

I don't see that as normal behavior. I have had a lot of fire fish over the years.
It looks like either bullying, or a disease process going on, a stressed fish.

Thank you. I'll keep monitoring it. Right now, it's hanging out in his little cave. Tested my parameters earlier and nothing different than what I've been testing at.

Either clowns are attacking or disease, grammas don't go out their way to bully, they only defend one hole. That is not normal firefish stuff, good luck.
