Put small frag directly on the sand bed or glue it to a rock base?

I have some new frags that I'd like to isolate them from the rockwork, but I don't know the best way to do it. As you can see the Acan frag is placed directly on the sand bed, while the Favia has an elevated kind of base underneath. Without any base, will the Acan grow bigger onto the sandbed? Which way is better? This might be a silly question I know hahah. To be frank I never tried this before because the rest of my corals all stay on the rockwork.

Elevate it.........best is to have a piece of rock you can glue it on.

You want a void space because if there are any nasty microbes from the sand they can get to the coral and will also create beneficial flow underneath the coral. It will grow better as well because although the acan creates a larger skeleton it will ecrust and expand making it easier for it to grow faster.
