If you have your pump hard plumbed vibrations from it will go into those pipes. If you add a short run of silicone tubing from the pump to the PVC you'll make it quieter and have the flexibility to curve it to meet the PVC.

Well this is in regards to ALL the plumbing. Not just return. I appreciate the suggestion (though I’m already aware of it). I’ve done soft plumbing in the past. I wanted to try completely hard plumbed. Vibrations are not a guarantee. But none of that has anything to do with the clamp/support problem.

I like these Cobra clamps because the are very clean looking IMO.

I ended up just shortening some of the pipe runs and used the Red Sea mounts that came with the tank. Amazingly enough they fit U.S. sizes as well! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
