Hello,

If I have a quarantine tank that had a fish in it with velvet, can I add copper power (2.0ppm) to kill off all of the velvet that may exist in the tank?

If so, how soon can I add fish back in?

Thank you,

Jason

You can add copper. Do you plan to treat the new fish with copper anyway?

Yes, I plan on treating other fish with copper in this tank. My plan is to treat the tank with Copper Power at 2ppm for 8 days followed by a water change to bring it down to 1ppm then add fish. I'll slowly bring it back to 2ppm once the other fish being treated are in the tank?

Thank you!

I would just add the fish with the tank dosed at 1.0ppm. Increase daily by .25ppm for 3 days (split into am/pm doses).

The 8 days won't really do much if there are still viable tomonts.

Would a fresh water dip be best for all fish before copper treatment then? If so, how long should they be in the fresh water?
