About to pick up some chaeto, Have been reading about qting chaeto to avoid hidden pests. Have not been able to find any consistent way of doing so other than just putting it in a qt and observing. does anyone have a set amount of time they would recommend? should the chaeto be dipped prior to qt? how many of you just plop it in the sump?

Thanks in advance any recommendations are appreciated

You can do a freshwater dip. Sometimes I use tap water first so the chlorine kills off anything. On tough macros like cheato they usually survive this. You can definitely introduce pests with any macroalgae or foreign water. The safest option is prob freshwater dips and QT.
