Quadricolor bta turning dark purple?

I got it almost 2 weeks ago. When I got it, it had more of a rusty color to the tentacles and the base was green, yellow, blue and white. Did I get a different kind by mistake or is it just my lighting?

What kind of lighting at you using? Do you have a "before" picture?

Just being curious :) I likely don't have any answers. I can say though my BTAs over the years have looked different under different lights, and while acclimating to new lights. Just my experience!

I'm using a Viparspectra 165w at 100% blues and 50% whites. It's a 40 gallon tank.

No worries. If this is your first rodeo w/ BTAs they're pretty hardy critters - The only color change I'd be concerned with would be white (or translucent). Bleaching is a bummer. Your BTA's mouth looks closed. I'd probably just let it sit on that rock and do BTA things.

Here are 5 pictures of my BTAs (all clones of the same daughter) through the years under different lighting and different levels of happiness over the years. Their colors will change under different lights IME. I notice a difference in color and depth during the lights cycle/time of day as well.

I'm not a photographer and these were all pretty much taken under "default" type phone camera settings.

Thanks. It attached right away, moved to this spot overnight and has been there since. It's eating and the mouth is closed. I think it's ok, just never heard of one being this dark.
