I’m coming back to the hobby after nearly 20 years and setting up a quarantine tank for all fish. It’s a 10 gallon tank with a HOB filter. I added a sponge filter and biomax to the filter and spread around what was left in the tank. I started the cycle a week ago with Fritz 900 turbo start and a good pitch of powered marine flakes. These are my current readings. Three small fish are set to arrive Friday and I’m tempted to just start with a fresh batch of water since I’m seeing some ammonia and the water is a little cloudy. Any suggestions?

I would start with 100% new water before I put the new fishes in it.

The API is very difficult to use for ammonia because the color changes are very subtle. Lot of people use an ammonia badge to monitor Nh3.
