Question about damaged frag

i recently got a frag from a friend that was previously damaged. It looks like he accidentally sawed the base of the bottom main branch in half. What do you think I should do? I though it might encrust or heal around the bottom part, but it wouldn’t be natural would it? Here is a pic.

Looks fine to me. I’d just leave it alone, it will grow and in a while you won’t be able to tell.

Should eventually encrust. Given the conditions in your reef are good.
