I have been using a Reefkeeper lite for a long time. The itemp stays very stable at 78.5, never any higher. Today I am adding a slx module into the system. As soon as I plugged the slx in, the itemp jumped up to 78.9. Not the temp from the slx, but the same itemp jumped up. So why does plugging in the slx modulde cause my itemp to jump up .4 degrees?

The iTemp uses two wires in the buss cable to connect to the temp port in the head unit. Adding another module will change the resistance slightly. This may cause a shift in the reading. The iTemp proge and temp probe are actually the same probe. The only difference it the connector on the end of the cable. There is more info in this thread on this subject https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/alternatives-to-digital-aquatics-probes-and-parts.439573/.

Thanks n2585722. I actually came across that thread the other day looking for a replacement temp probe. I have a slx now so I can use either style connector. Does anybody make or find a direct replacement temp probe yet?

I think someone posted in that thread that they had a RKL temp probe they were wanting to sell.

Did you recalibrate it after plugging it into the slx? Does it hold a good temp after calibration and when put back into calibration fluid? If it does than seems fine to continue using. Mine was drifting too much so I replaced it and spliced it into the itemp connector.
