Ok I have been thinking of upgrading my vortech pumps from 40's to 60's ..but wonder is there alot of scams out there where I could end up getting paid via paypal and send out the pumps and still get scammed? What should I be on the lookout for? New to selling usually buying lol..
Thanks in advance to any help
Roger

once you get paid via paypal- the money is real and guaranteed. That's one of the big perks of using it. Only way you could get 'scammed' that way is if the person then claimed you never sent the goods, or sent them the wrong goods. A simple signature required should eliminate that issue to a large degree, and even then, if he was a consistent scammer he'd get caught fairly quickly by paypal. If you really want to be safe, require money order payments, then you have zero risk of being scammed and only then the buyer would have risk of you scamming them (not implying anything here, just playing devils advocate.)

Once you get the money, the only way that the person could do something would be to tarnish your reputation on sites you frequent-but again, with the community judging your story vs their story should show who's telling the truth, as typically it's fairly obvious.

ahh I see so paypal and send registered with tracking for confirmation ..I ask becuase these vortech pumps are not cheap and I cannot afford to get scammed need the money to upgrade to the mp60's ..So I will sell the mp40's and mp20's to only the people here that have over 120 posts and a year or so here on the site that should pretty much put me at ease I believe people to be good and that is my downfall most times lol thanks for the input..

Bingo Paypal and signed confirmation is the best way. Never do any cash or checks. I use paypal all the time with vendors and ebay....i have had zero problems. You could always link a credit card to your payapl account incase you ever buy anything and something goes bad. Have the credit card company reverse the charge.

Also make sure that the buyer has a "verified" shipping address. This protects you even further. I would send the items with a signature and delivery confirmation. Make sure you keep all the documents.

buyers are well protected, sellers commonly get screwed. Paypal and ebay both (for years and recently) have screwed me royally as a seller. Scam buyers have all sorts of dirty tricks. You are largely at their mercy. Even though you get paid, all they have to do is lie and file a dispute with paypal or ebay and the finding is most always in the buyer's favor. I have had staggering decisions that made my head spin. Clear email histories via the ebay message system detailing some of the less intelligent scammers tipping their games and yet ebay would not even consider them. The'll put a hold on funds or suspend your account if you dont have funds they want to take back.

Foreign buyers are more frequently scammers. You may want to do like many ebayers and not allow overseas sales. Vortechs are very sought after overseas and you are at least as likely to field bids from foreign buyers. Sad but true that there are some bad apples out there.

yeah like I said I have bought alot of stuff off the classified here and there and out of 6 or so transactions only one got me by sending me a broken skimmer since he shipped it and I got it that was all paypal needed to hear so I got stuck oh well ..but usually the reefers with large post or time in like a year or so have worked out .
