So I just picked up a used XR15 pro G6 from my local aquatic shop and had a question about whether to get a diffuser or a shade or both for the light. In the past tank and light I had, the light has always dominated the room and kinda harsh on the eyes unless I'm standing over it. So wondering what peoples recommendations are for one or the other or both?

I wouldn’t add a diffuser, the optics are very good and blend super well in the tank. I have 4 of them on my pinnensula tank and no disco ball effect. I do have hoods on them to help stop light spill.

What brand hood did you go with?

Printed reef makes nice shades. But yeah, dont get a diffuser.

I went with 3Dreefing for many reasons. They are very nicely made and have a really nice design. They ship really well and I’ve purchased 4 at this point. I’ve been super happy with this choice.

P.s. don’t mind the paper around the top of the tank. We’re waiting for a new lid from top lids and trying to stop some Free Wiley clowns lol

Also, if you’re really wanting a diffuser still, I have 3 I’m not using and are sitting in my basement. I thought I needed them at first and had them on until I bought a PAR meter. After playing with the par meter and setting the lights. I discovered I lost more par then I thought with the diffusers on and took the diffusers off. Honestly since I took them off I can’t tell a difference except on par readings. Dm me if you really want them and I’ll ship em. However with the G6 series lights you really don’t need them and that’s why they are in my basement lol.

I just went with printedreefs wide one they had. Plus they're local to me I found out. Not sure if wide or narrow makes a huge difference? Otherwise the one you sent I was contemplating also.
