Question on Blue Sympodium

I got a Blue Sympodium and have had it a few days, it has not opened i have it about mid way up.... can someone tell me how long will it take to open up.

Some corals take days to open up. There are many factors involved, your water parameters compared to the LFSs, lighting differences, flow and so on. You mention, “I have it about mid way upâ€. That means little or nothing if we don’t know your lighting type, brand and intensity. I’ve found, if you leave your corals alone and don’t constantly move them they do better than trying to locate them in the perfect place. Don’t move it for a week or so. See if it responds to it’s current location. If you observe your corals closely, they will indicate their happiness or lack there of, by opening up if they like the placement. BUT it takes time for them to adjust.

ti have LED lights, and when i bought this i got a frogspawn and after 2 hours it was fully opened, i know you cant judge different corals but it did.

In my exp. sympodium can take a while to adjust. I know when ever I do something to mine it may stay closed up for a few days and then slowly open over a few days. Leave it alone for a week and see what it does.

Euphyllia corals (frogspawn) are much less demanding than most other corals. Sympodium most likely will take longer. Like I said earlier, give it a few days to adjust before deciding to move it. Corals in general like stability in there life. I’ve found that in a couple of months my corals will look better, even bringing out more color, than when first purchased. Keep us informed.

I have found sympodium hit or miss when shipping. Also once in the past i raised mag to 1500 and the sympodium melted away. I would put in a low light area but enough flow to help keep algae off the closed polyps. Good luck

I second this^^ I'd move it to the sand bed and somewhere with moderate flow. When I had my Blue Sympodium I kept it almost in the shade and it did great...

That's where I have mine with Radion pros. They only get Shimmer.
440 cal 7 meq or so
14-1450 mag low phos and low nitrates
I have crazy flow for my sps so all my Lps are in hidden low flow spots
