Hi All--
I currently have a 100g cube. It's 30" wide x 30" deep by 24" tall. I have a canopy on it (and that isn't negotiable, according to the wife). The lighting I currently have are these cheap (ugh) ecoexotic LED strips. One that is all actinic bulbs and the other that alternates white and blue.
However, all is not lost.....the wife has given the go-ahead for me to get 2.....not just 1, but TWO Kessil lights.....YEEHAW! So I have a several questions for any who can help me with answering them.
1. Considering my tank is 24" tall (and the canopy ceiling is about 8-8.5" from the surface of the water), do you think I need the 360 narrow or the wide angle? I was planning on putting them on each side of the middle of the tank with a slight tilt towards the center. I figured I could reduce more shaded areas by doing that. I was originally thinking of going with the wide angle to get more coverage and also have less shaded areas. But I've seen where someone has written that the narrow ones are better for taller tanks. However, I do want to have somewhat lower light areas on the bottom so that I won't have trouble finding a suitable spot for corals that are lower light corals.
2. Does the basic light come standard with some sort of mounting that I could use to place them onto the ceiling of the canopy or do I need to buy something separate? If I need something separate, what would that be? And if I want to tilt them a little, as I mentioned above, do I need some separate (third party......or worse yet, DIY--I'm pretty weak with DIY projects) mounting pieces?
3. I have a possible chance to buy a couple locally for a fairly good price from a private party. They are supposed to be new, in unopened boxes. If that is indeed true, would a blank warranty card be present in an unopened box so that I could still receive the 2 year warranty even though I'm not buying them from an authorized dealer?
Thanks very much, in advance, for any help you can give me with these questions!
Robert
