Question on T5 and skimmer

I have a ehoppes skimmer that i want to replace the reason is that there is a pipe that sticks up and i cant have a 4 lights only 2 because of the pipe that is in the way.. can someone suggest a new skimmer that works well.. i have also had a problem with this skimmer overflowing. i have a 55 gallon and if i get a 4 light i am not sure how i can open the top for feeding without taking the lights off the tank which will be a pain.
