So I’m currently using a Tidal 35 on my 10g reef tank. The main problem I’m having is I want to try and utilize the surface skimming a little more, but my water level is too high a majority of the time. I don’t want to drop the water level as low as it would take for it to be effective, so I feel like my option is to raise the HOB.

The pictures are the way it looks now, with the water level high and where I want it, but the skimmer “feature” not being utilized.

The last picture is how I want to make it, so more of the surface flows through those grates on the top.

Any ideas on how to easily modify my HOB and raise it up off the tank a little?

Add an appropriately sized spacer (piece of wood or acrylic or the like) for the HOB to sit on. It would go between the tank edge and the bottom of the bend in the filter.
