questioning which brand to go for

Hi!
I'm Echo and I'm still fairly new to the whole aquarium thing.
So, to offer a little bit of background; I do have a freshwater aquarium that's been up and running for around 8 months now, but in a few months i intend on removing a closet from my room, this closet is going to leave a nice empty spot roughly 110cm (43.3 Inches) wide between 2 other closets.

Now my intention is to place a reef aquarium in that empty spot to fill it with life, but that leaves me with the question, what tank should i get.
Due to being located in the Netherlands there are certain brands that are harder to buy, Currently the only brands I (think I) can get are; AquaForest, Red Sea, Aqua Medic, Blue Marine, Nyos and WaterBox

I've been looking at the Armatus 300 from Aqua Medic. the Max E-260 from Red Sea. the Peninsula 350 G2+ also from Red Sea and the Nyos Opus 300. and believe these would be decent options in terms of size, volume and aesthetics

It seems that there's a lot of talk going around about Red Sea, my question now is, have these issues been resolved? and what are the opinions on the other options listed.

Much as I value principles and not wanting to buy from Red Sea because of their reactions in regards to the seam breaks, i also need to keep price in mind, and go for options that include more gear as is. (and objectively these tanks also look appealing to the eyes).


I am young, dumb and new to this ever-growing hobby. or at least new to the saltwater branch. any and all advise is much appreciated!

Reef tanks are a lot more complex than freshwater tanks, they require a lot more maintenance and tinkering. I would suggest against putting a reef tank into a closet, that would maintenance impractical. You need as much access to the tank as possible, from all angles.

Personally, I would avoid red sea tanks at this point, but that's a personal decision from which models failed and how they responded. It would add too much stress into my life.

I'm familiar with WB and blue marine and would have nothing bad to say with either of those.

One other thought, have you checked your local classified/marketplace on R2R, Facebook, etc to see if anyone is currently selling any of the tanks you're interested in?

Yeah I've been hearing enough about Red Sea for a bit now, i love the designs and looks of their tanks, and i know their equipment is pretty good. I'll likely be avoiding their tanks since even the display model they had at my local fish store (which wasn't filled up) had a bubble in the front seams, that'll kill any enthusiasm i had for that aquarium.

WB is sadly currently difficult to get here, as in I'm very limited to which versions of their tanks i can get. I don't think I've given Blue Marine enough of a look-over, so thank you for your input! i'll have to give them another look.

as for the marketplace portion, I've checked but sadly there's not much in the local area, and checking the forums for stuff is difficult due to geographical stuff, I'd save a few bucks on the tank but would lose it in shipping and import costs.

totally a fair point, it'll be placed between two closets, with +/- 10-15cm on both sides if i move one of the closets flush with the wall, I'm flexible and agile enough to be able to do work in those tight space.
but I do get what you mean and appreciate the advice.

I am still looking at different brands but if i end up going with Nyos I'll have a little more space between the closets and the display tank itself since those stands are wider than the aquarium itself.
