Can I put my filter sock back in right after washing it with tap water and no soap or anything, or should I wait for it to dry?

Assuming your tap water isn't absolutely horrible, that's fine.

I never wait for mine to dry.
If youre having algae issues, it couldnt hurt I imagine but Ive never had any problems with washing it out and putting it right back in.
