Can I run my Protein Skimmer and my Uv Sterilizer while dosing Vibrant? I watched the BRS Investigates but they really did not state if we should turn off the skimmer.. I plan to dose after my weekly 10%-15% water change.. I also understand it may take up too 9 weeks.

I've dosed it in the past without UV and I'm currently dosing it with UV. I'm not seeing a difference in results with regard to algae. I'm using it to lessen hair algae and it's still working. I only run the UV at night and I dose the vibrant about 8 hours before the UV turns on.

You can run skimmer and do initial dose at 80% of the recommended

Sounds good.. Are you dosing once a week?

Nice I just don't want to over due it. Are you manually dosing or do you have it set up with a dosing pump?
I manually dose. A lot of people do the 4 day schedule with no issue. I also siphon out whatever HA i can during water changes.

You actually can continue UV because vibrant is not actually a bacterial supplement ;) tin foil hat*

But actually, on UWC thread they say UV has no affect which makes no sense if its actually bacteria.

Exactly!! I am getting mixed information lol. My main goal is to let Vibrant do its thing I know its going to take a while to see results.. For the mean time I have shut my UV off.

Doesn't it? Benthic bacteria are not appreciably impacted by UV.

Because of where they reside? Or because of protection?

Of course, once they get established than UV has no effect. But when you dump in the bottle and its mixing around I would assume UV would kill them. I always turn my UV off for one hour during dosing.
