Rabbit Fish Gill Parasite

I need help identifying and treating my rabbitfish. What I see is a 2 fin red and white growth from the bottom front edge of its gill plate. Fish is mostly acting normal and eating, perhaps breathing a little heavy.

I’d start with a freshwater dip to see if it is something that dislodges.

Then, I’d try Prazipro in the tank and see if it helps.

If it’s a nasty parasite of some kind, it may require manual removal.

I believe what we see in the photo was actually just damaged gill filaments.

I decided to wait and see after posting the photo and the damage recovered quickly. As stated the fish never exhibited any other signs of distress and now is back to normal.

Glad he’s looking good. He looks like one I got 3 weeks ago from LA. Just wondering how long and from where you got him.
