Radion X15 blue or Radion Xr30 Blue??

I will be purchasing a new aquarium. The measurements are 47"L x 21"H x 20"W. I have decided that I want the Radion G6 blue.

With this size tank should I get:

2 XR30's

2 XR15's

Or possibly 3 XR15's

I'd go 2x 15s and spend the extra $1k elsewhere. if heavy sps I'd add supplemental bars of some kind.

You’ll probably want the xr30. Many people complain the xr15 g6 increased spread but drastically reduced par. Xr15 is for smaller tanks. If you want sps you need to get a lot of them so they overlap

Mine are the g6. I went with the 2 xr15's because that is what Ecotech recommended for LPS and I figured I could add a 3rd if needed. On AB+ at 100% the 2 put out 150 to 291 par at various points in the tank. I mapped out all the par values at different intensities for AB+. I ended up with the following schedule

I've direct experience with both on the G4, not the G6, so take my comments with a grain of salt .....

I bought both G4Pro 15s and 30s. With the G4, the 15 is essentially half of the x30 - assume that is still true with the G6? If so, you pay a bit more over time, but I found clear advantages to the X15 over the X30. Fan runs continuously on the X30 but variably on the X15. ETM said they would fix that, not sure if they ever did. Maybe it is fixed in the G6, but something to consider. More importantly, the X15 gives you greater position flexibility that can be helpful as your tank grows. Plus if you start with two X15, it's easy to add a third ... and a fourth. That is the way I would go.

I have a 48x24 so similar detentions. I went with 4 XR15’s. Cheaper than two xr30’s and more even spread according to BRS testing. I have been very happy with the coverage it gives me.
