Hello do you think a Radion XR15 Pro is enough light to grow SPS in a 42 gallon aquarium 24”L x 21”H x 22.6”W ?

Full on wall to wall sps? I would say no. But I only have gen 5's currently. The gen 6 is supposed to have better spread, but it sacrifices par.
I see on ETM's website they say the XR15's are good up to 24", but, I'm a little doubtful. You might get the spread, but are you getting the par out on the edges for sps? Manufactures have always seemed to be a little proud of their products and their ability.

I was looking for SPS pretty much under the light and a bit to the left and a bit to the right not all the at to the edges.

I should have said a mixed reef with a little SPS sprinkled in.
24 x 22 x 21 is asking alot for a single XR15. If I were to set up a new tank and wanted 1 fixture, I would go with a XR30, or something else.

Maybe look into a reef breeder photon 24 unless your committed to ecotech. If you want to fill it all in add a 24" t5 hybrid on top. It's what I'm running on a similar size tank 24x20x20 and there is no shortage of light. The t5 isn't dimmable sonoeicw wasn't too bad. I have then coming on an hour or so after the led ramp up so fish don't get blasted with light when they turn on. Tank isn't packed with coral but everything is growing well. Couple of pics PXL_20240220_153604107.jpg

EDIT : one of the things I like about the photon is the absence of light spill. My gen 4 xr15s light up the tank and everything around it

The gen 5 pro, as is out of the box w the ab+ setting run at that spectrum intensity @ 100% will grow.sps without any issues plan the scape accordingly. It’s what powers my system

My guess is that if you only had some SPS in the middle/top of your tank, you'd be totally fine.

BRS has a video out there that does a really nice breakdown on the XR 15's power. The issue won't be directly under the XR15, it'll be once you get out of the middle.

FWIW I have 6 XR15 Blues (Three Gen 5 and Three Gen 6) over my 72 x 30 x 30 tank. I don't perceive a major difference between Gen 5 and Gen 6, but I also haven't cranked them up to 100% yet and compared w/ my par meter.

I'd also look at getting the XR15 Blue, unless you like pro spectrum. If my memory serves my correctly, they are more powerful at max if you like blue spectrums.

Thanks all I think I am going to go with an XR30 G6 Pro instead of the XR15
You will be super happy. I have tried a bunch of LEDs out there, and XRs are my favorite by far. That size will do anything you reasonably want to do in the tank.
