Radion XR15 G4

i have a XR15 that will not turn on. When i turn it on the light comes on for 1 sec then goes off for 2 seconds. it does this 4 times. then the top lights where the on off switch is will flash from red to green. at this point the light will not do anything else. any ideas?

the fan is not working. when i power up the unit, the fan supply is showing 1 volt dc when i unplug the fan it shows 11.7 vdc. the fan does not feel like it is trying to turn when i power it up. however it turns freely when i manually spin it. i am going to order another fan from ecotech marine. in case anyone in the future needs a guide i will update this as i go. this is a radion G4 XR15 that i have been using for 5 years maybe 6. i bought it used from a fish store that was using it on one of their tanks. i have another that i bought on Facebook marketplace, that one is keeping my tank going. this is the first issue i have had with these lights.

Google the part number on the fan. Pretty sure Ecotech price gouges for replacements like they do power supplies, etc.

i received the fan and replaced. light still doing the same. i will be sending to ecotech for repairs.

Update: called ecotech on 27 Dec 24. they said they have received my light, but have not started the repairs on it yet. they fix the equipment they receive in order of when they have received them. mine is hopefully only a couple more weeks til they start.

In case ecotech says they cant fix it check with @_AV . I have a gen 3 that he fixed for me a week ago. Ecotech warmed me that they don't support the gen 3 and if they could not fix it they would give me a coupon for a new one.

Ecotech just informed me that they could not fix the light. they did sell me a new XR15 gen 6 pro for a reduced price but they get to keep the old gen 4. i can get another gen 4 on FB Marketplace for 250 but for a few dollars more i get a new light. i took the deal was $355 tax and shipping. i will have to upgrade to the mobius platform. however, my other gen 4 will not connect to mobius. so 1 light will be mobius and the other will be ecosmart live.

I have the same issue and just sent my XR15 Gen 4 to Ecotech last week. Hoping for a different resolution. I was trying to fix it before I sent it out and removed it my from tank on Mobius and it worked for a couple days then went back out again.

I finally received my new G6 XR15 on Friday 31 Jan 2025. it is working great so far and the mobius app was a lot easier to use. 3 months of only using 1 light did some damage to my corals. i now have both lights at 25% and starting the acclimation process. Wow where did all this aptasia come from!!!!

That seems to be the game they play at eco tech ..think they want all those unbeatable gen '4s off the playing field so they can sell the garbage gen 6's ...and g7 ? it better be good is all I can say

Took about 6 weeks for them to get back to me. Said it was a heat issue and do not have parts to fix and wanted to sell me a new light. Going with the A8SE AliExpress light instead.

seems like they want to remove the G4's from service. i do have an update on my G6 light they sold me at a discounted price. it is awesome the spread or coverage is much better. Mobius seems a little more difficult to operate than EcoSmart Live. I was able to copy my old program to Mobius. However, i cannot move my G4 to Mobius without a hardware update. If I change the intensity or spectrum i have to do it on each program. An inconvenience but not a deal breaker once i get the intensity back to where i want it, the lights just don't get messed with. Overall very happy with the new light.

What did they charge u for the new gen6 im in a similar situation i need a light cluster for my gen 4 but they don't have so these said send it in and they will give me a discount on a gen 6
