theres is the picture. Now the problem is I have had this one for over 4 months or more and the polyps have been fine. It has now been 4 days and no polyps. The bright green color is maintaining but no polyps. parms are from last test ph 8.4 alk 9 sal 1.025 cal 480 nit 0 phos 0 mag 1200. no bugs can be seen. also fyi I have wrasses that usually deal with any. No idea why it is doing this. Posted this on local website and the grandmaster Lee said to dip in revive which I am doing tom. However, wanted to see what a bigger forum would say.
Were gonna tell ya the same thing lol....;)
I'm no grandmaster btw just love me some sps.... To be quite honest some pieces are just very hard to please man.... Bit since you have never dipped or quarantined I would suggest pests as the culprits.....
The last redbugs I had (in my QT, mind you) were so tiny I had to use 5X magnification to pick them up. And even then I just caught them because of movement! There are some seriously tiny ones
Lack of polyp extension (if you are getting good growth on other corals) typically lends itself to nipping fish or a pest (red bugs being my first guess).
I'd definitely consider starting to QT any and every coral regardless of whom or where you get it from. Melev has a very nice write-up on QT.
Mine has saved me twice now. I would have gotten two redbug infestations without the QT. If anybody takes offense to me putting their stuff in my QT and dips regimen, then I just let them know EVERYBODY's stuff goes in there, so they can be pretty confident about stuff they get from me. One of the infested pieces I caught came from a prominent LFS. I also do Coral Rx and Interceptor dips on every piece.
no matter how much we dip there will always be a margin of risk. parameter fluctuations can also cause loss in polyp extension as well. your mag is a bit low..wanna keep alk the most stable.
Have you changed your flow pattern at all? I recently battled red bugs and had the same type of issues with lack of PE, but they seemed to prefer the smoother acros like my tricolor valida, hawkins, etc. Torts, Tenuis, milles and stuff with less of a smooth structure seemed to be unaffected
