I just added my fiest anemone to my 15g AIO tank last Friday the 23rd

, I placed in a rock and it seemed happy till monday afternoon I noticed it deflated some but still in the same spot. my parameters are Nitrate is at 3ppm, Nitrite 0ppm Ph 8.0, temperature 77 farenheit. Yesterday morning I turn the blue light and UV light at a higher setting and lower the white light it made it a little worst so today I set light settings back to where I had them when I first got the anem, Flow is moderate. I did a water change of 4 gallons on Sunday as well not sure if its normal behavior or I need to adjust something that I dont know.

Congrats on your first BTA! I have 6 myself currently.

Nems are often unhappy for a while in a new environment. The photo you sent doesn't concern me. If it closes completely, becomes un-attached and starts floating around, or the mouth starts gaping, then you have cause for concern. Just keep your conditions stable and give it time, don't go changing a bunch of light and flow settings. Anemones, more so than fish, thrive on stability.

The picture I posted is 24hrs after adding it to the tank, once I get home tonight I will post one it looks like it deflated a bit, color still good and still in the same spot. But I will monitor and keep parameters stable.

Give it time it might take a while for it open up. I can't remember any nem that I put in a new tank opening up right away

I say this a lot... Nems are the cats of reefing. They do what they want.

Generally they are not good starter critters either. they crave stability

Also, expect it to draw into itself each evening during changes in the light cycle, sometimes during the morning too.

Mine retract/ dissappear for days and sometimes they move to their happy spot when they do that. It looks like it is fine...be patient

I’m curious about the lighting, they do like “strong “ light because they have symbionts that photosynthesize and make the energy for their commune.

Is UV from an LED used by the nem & Symbionts for photosynthesis? UV for sterilization and ozone production intuitively seems potentially anti productive for life and health?

The OP’s comment about increasing the UV causes me to pause and wonder, how much is too much in an aquarium environment?

Here is a couple of pics I took today of a Rainbow BT I got in September. It sometimes it closes up so small I can barely see it for days. The arrow in the pic is pointing to a RBT that when it is open is about 5 inches it might stay closed for a few days ....that's just nature. Also the rainbow has moved all around the rock pile it on for months.

I broadcast feed. But I picked Black Widow anemones specifically because they don’t grow as big as Rainbows and propagate slower than the basic BTA.
Despite that, my original nem propagates about 8 to 10 a year.

The black widows are beautiful too. I just needed something more vibrant to contrast my greens.

Maybe in the future I will consider a nem only tank. If you got a picture of yours that'd be sweet.
