Rainbow bubble tip keeps splitting?

Hi all, I have a rainbow bubble tip that keeps splitting. It split 2 months ago and it's already about to split again. This seems like this is pretty frequent, and possibly too frequent

Is anything wrong? And how do I encourage them to grow larger?

Nitrate 1ppm, phos: 0.01, cal 410, all 8.7

How often are you feeding it? If overfed, BTAs will split frequently.

Nobody know why they split. Years ago it was thought that splitting meant they were unhappy but I had one that split for 5-6 years until I just had to give them away or toss them. Just keep your lighting good and water clean is about all you need.

Seeing as he's trying to grow them larger, I think you hit a nail. :-)

I have actually only fed it twice, more for a novelty than nutrition
