Raising aquarium stand height.

Can anyone give me some advice on raising the height of an aquarium stand? I am a relatively tall dude and i get tired of squatting down to see my aquarium. I am in the process setting up a new to me 54g corner aquarium, and would like to raise it 8-10" from its current height. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Thank you, im attaching an image of what the stand looks like. This is not my actual stand, but the one i have is identical, just in better condition.

That stand doesn't look so solid as it stands. if I wanted it higher I would definitely want it braced internally better.

I am not tall, but have never liked that typical pet store stands are all of about 30" tall. I guess they assume only children want to look at fish

I agree with building some sort of new base under the stand would work.

But if you're going to do that, maybe building a whole new stand would be a better option? You could then build it to whatever height you want. If you're a woodworker, a router and pattern bit would go a long way to recreating the curved bullnose front. If you need some help with this, I'd be glad to try and help, or certainly you could talk to a local carpenter or cabinet maker and have them build it for you

To answer your question, either a platform below the stand or better yet, a whole new tall stand.

I'm over 6ft tall and did my stand at 46" tall - ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

You just stand and stare - no need to kill your back.

I am definitely not opposed to a little DIY and if i have to hire a carpenter, i would rather just keep the stand at its existing height as i am trying to keep this project low budget. I should have the carpentry ability to build a small 10" base. Does anyone know of any pictures as examples? It is the curved front that would be necessary that i am not sure how to do.

I was thinking of cutting 2 pieces of plywood to the dimensions of the stands and attaching them with 2x4s of whatever measurement needed to achieve the height i desire. I was thinking i could use some sort of thin 1/8" Board as a wrap around to enclose the box and paint it black. Should this be feasable?

I could also brace the existing stand with additional 2x4s if yall think that would be necessary.

After doing a some research here is my current plan. I will cut 2 pieces of 3/4" plyboard in the "Teardrop" shape of the stand as the top and bottom of the box. I will then use 2x8 boards laying on their side as the height and support of the riser which i will glue and screw into place. I will then wrap the outside edges with some type of 1/8" or 1/4" board. Please see image below.

Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. Should this work as sufficient support? Maybe add an additional 2x8 in the middle section of the diamond? Thanks for your time and assistance.

This isn't a bad way to go about it, I don't think. But by chance do you have access to a wood router with a pattern bit? With a router, it would be really easy to match the curve on the stand now, and would give a more polished look, in my opinion. You could also use a jig saw and work carefully, it won't be quite as nice as using a router, but you could recreate the shape for your top and bottom plywood pieces, then wrap that in something like 1/8" ply should bend well enough. I don't think you'll be able toy bend 1/4" around that radius.

This will give you some idea what I mean, again, this would be for the top and bottom plywood pieces to match that curved front of the stand:


EDIT: You don't need router in a table like shown in the video, and hand held router will do this just fine

That looks good. Make sure 2x8 is directly under each side of the door where I assume vertical supports are.
You might need to shape the 2x8s a little bit to get a nice curve going.
