Hello,

This will be my journey into the money burning pit of turning a cube of space in my house into a slice of the ocean.

I am a vacation diver and am very fond of the ocean, hopefully that will come across in my methods of madness in this thread.

I have found this site, RC, canreef, sites invaluable and will try to mimic best practices listed on these sites.

So without further blah blah lets start this journey, it's going to be a long one.

So last night I got started on the QT tank stand.

It is going to be a combination of homebrew and IKEA.
Since I work out of town everyweek you will have to wait for updates.

I hope I measured everything correctly.

The IKEA shelf will sit on the stand and the plywood top will use part of the homebrew stand on the edges and supported midsection by IKEA.
The measurements have to be pretty close, I really do not want to shim either of the sides or the ikea shelf, we shall see next weekend.

I'm a little anxious considering I also built a spice rack for the wife yesterday as well and fed up the measurements. Maybe the correct measurement has manifested itself in the stand :p

Some #6 holding the wood in place. I only had one joint that was a little to tight and I split the wood, as you can see above on the left joint if you look hard... Oh well.

After I had both runners hammered in, I clamped them and put the squeeze on that glue joint. Oh, I have to wake up in 4 hours at this point for my 12 hour out of town shift haha, oh snapple.
Next week I put the plywood on... and maybe 2 more 2x4 I can see a good spot in this photo.

And.. this will be my QT setup. 2 x 20L ontop of ikea storage. They will be separated about 6" and I will maybe install a blastwall between the tanks to prevent splashing.
One QT will be permanent cycled inverts and grow out, the other will be copper time for fish.

Until next week folks.

Maybe I can convince @Elder1945 to come over for free and build my stuff.

That's a 6' 120 in the background, I feel by the time I'm done the basement reno, moved the living room downstairs, and then redone the flooring in the living room, I will want a bigger tank than the 120.

I also covered it again, in sawdust lol.

Just got home from out of town. Put the kids to bed and headed out to the garage. Wife was saying something about not spending time or listening, I didn't quite hear.

Nothing like building a 66 inch unit to show your floor is out almost 3/4 inch in one spot.

Out 9mm.

I cut my shelfing to exact. I had to shave 1/16 about off each ikea end piece.
