Randy can calcium consumption be calculated when using AFR?

I dose 35ml daily to keep Kh at 7.8 to 8.2, calcium at 380 to 400 and Mg at 1260 to 1300. I ask because I want to start dosing RS ABCD trace colors and there formula requires daily calcium consumption to determine how many Ml’s to dose daily/weekly. Total water volume in tank is 60 gallons

Thanks in advance and appreciate any help and or suggestions you may have.

You are dosing about 12 ppm calcium with your 35ml AFR dose in 60 gallons. Your tank is likely consuming about 90-95% of that. There is a slight excess of calcium dosed relative to alkalinity with AFR.

I am not sure why you would want to dose the RS Trace Colors. AFR is already providing trace elements. Seems redundant.

Thanks for the input much appreciated! Just looking to tweak trace elements as I run a carbon/gfo reactor which depletes trace elements quicker than they can be consumed.

Yes.

AFR contains ~6,000 dKH and ~43,000 ppm (43 mg/mL) calcium.

35 mL will contain 1.5 g calcium.

I am not sure how that happened but I meant to write 6 ppm not 12.

I understand your thinking about dosing more trace due to use of GFO. I am not sure you can know how much of what trace to dose without ICP.

I will add that, in most cases, there is no real basis for dosing trace in proportion to calcium. I know that is what the directions say. I happen to use RC Trace (A?) to add some additional iodine based on ICP. I am quite confident that my iodine consumption has zero correlation to my calcium consumption.
