Hi Randy , could mag mix could go bad after being mixed for over a year.

I stirred it up a bit, but my test kit is reading the same after adding 6 cups of solution to my 700 gallon tank.

Maybe it's just Read sea kit going bad, it has a expiration date of 11/16.

Or should I just mix new solution. My kit is reading 1200 and I dosed 2 cups at a time 3 times , still reading 1200.

My magnesium has been over 1400 for very long time now it's reading low.

Recent 150 gallon water change and 7 gallons WC For a week on auto water change for a week now.( could the water change caused the drop in Mg .

I must admit I have not done mag testing in the past couple of months.

Any suggestions.

By the way I could not find the dosing calculator for magnesium on the link that is attached to the diy, it no longer works, broken link.

He means by DIY magnesium additives with magnesium sulfate and magnesium chloride. Here's a link:

No, the solutions never go bad, so it may be a testing error of some sort. A number of folks have issues with the Red Sea magnesium kit.

Here's the calculator:

Thanks Randy only had to dose 33 cups of solution to get my magnesium back on target.

If it where not for you, I'd be broke buying magnesium supplements.
