It is used in some enzymes, including some that process urea. Will it make any difference in my tank? No idea. But something seems to be negatively impacting certain organisms in my tank, including some soft corals.
Thanks. It will be interesting to see if it makes a difference.
I always run 2x recommended carbon on mixed reefs just to be sure all toxins are removed efficiently.

Hi Randy,
Curious how you are liking the Tunze 6105 Eco powerheads. Do you just have the two of them for circulation in your tank? What percent do you have them running at and do they provide enough flow? I'm thinking of getting a pair for my 5-foot 110 gallon tank but not sure if they would be strong enough or if I should get the stronger 6255s. Thanks!

Yes, I am very happy with them.

Quiet is a big factor in my living room, and they are quiet up to about 65%. Curiously, with the diy anemone guards in place they seem quieter, and I have upped the flow to that shown below. The anemone is also in a low flow place, so I can up the flow without blasting it off its rock.

I can’t really judge how much flow one might want in other types of tanks, and some may want more, but I do not feel the need for more in my tank.

I’ll say I do like the Tunze hub control.

I really haven’t had much luck with the 50ml pumps when they are used as an Ato, literally burned through a dozen on service accounts. I’m sure brs will take care of you but I don’t think this is an isolated event.

They are sending replacements. I’m not sure what the problems are, I may change my AWC timing to more times of shorter duration to reduce heat issues.

I’ve tried others but I always end up back with eheim heaters. Kinda like IO salt.

Thanks. I may trend back to glass if others fail too.

I may have mentioned this earlier, but I've been using a pair of AC Infinity pumps to do AWC for about 6 months now and they have been spot-on so far.

Thanks. :)

Longtime Tunze user and they get even quieter after they have broken in a few weeks. My current Tunze is quiet at 100% and I am a noise nut.

Thanks for that rishima. I'm curious, which one are you using?
I’ve used many. The current one is a 6040. It’s a strange pump I’ve fallen in love with.

I run 2 6255's on my 59×30×21.
They are on Sea Sweeps.
Plenty of power and reach in a 5' system.
2 Tunze ORCA's with 6105's would be ideal in your system.
Check my build if you want to see them.

Holy You Paid for Something !😲

lol

I’ve paid for all equipment except the Tunze items that they provided, and some dosers that a fellow reefer sent me (IIRC).

Randy you said you got your magnifica from Pacific East? Is that the one in Maryland?

Yes. I bought it online and had it shipped.

Happy Shrimp Surprise

I have not seen the peppermint shrimp that were added with the second batch of TBS live rock for a very long time. I assumed they had succumbed to the mantis shrimp.

But no! I was looking at the tank during the last minutes of its light cycle, and one of my adult daughters spotted one of the peppermint shrimp creeping out from the rocks. I tried to get a picture, but the last light shut off a fraction of a second before I pushed the button. lol

Funny. That’s where I get my livestock. They’re like 90 min drive for me so easy day trip. At one point they had a tank with two large anemones on the back glass but both were white. Guess they had bleached.
