Rant warning!

Ok. It's REALLY frustrating when you buy a beautiful male lyretail anthias (something you have wanted to keep for a long time) and acclimate it, put it into the tank, and watch it swim safely into a rock, only to NEVER SEE IT AGAIN!!! I went swimming in the tank and rearranged my rock, thinking that I would either find a fish, or find a body.... NOTHING! So now I'm thinking that he was somehow eaten my my BTA, overnight. Even though I fed the darn thing yesterday. It's just really aggravating!!

How long did you give it to acclimate to its new environment? When I dropped my firefish in my tank I didn't see them for 7-10 days.

It was about an hour and a half. Slow drip in a bucket.

Question, do you have internal overflows? If so then check them. I found my Pintail Fairy wrasse in it one day.

He was big. About 3" long and nice and fat. I did check, thinking maybe he jumped and landed in there, but nope. And not on the floor around my tank, either.
@Bender , I put him into the tank yesterday at 6pm (at which time he immediately went into the rock structure). I went digging around at about noon today. After lights on and feeding with no signs of him. I tried looking into the crevasses of all the rocks I could, but didn't see him or any parts of his body.

By 6pm, my lights are starting to ramp down and are off completely by 8.

Sorry for the loss if that is the case. If your reef is large, perhaps he's really good at hiding. It is very common for them to hide for a solid week in a new system.

Just relax, check your overflows, and if no sight just feed normally - he'll come out when he's ready!

I hope he's just hiding. But I kinda figured that my digging would spook him out. So at least I would know he was still alive. But I didn't see him at all. He could be hiding really well, but i hope he doesn't starve to death.

Most new fish will take days to get used to the new environment. I never saw most of my new fish for at least a couple days. When they came out they came out with confidence and ate like pigs.

Like I said I am sure he's just hiding. Relax and wait a few days! Feed normally - he'll come out when hes ready.

I hope this is the case. Cuz he's gorgeous! And a fish I have been wanting for a long time, but would never bite the bullet on cost. So now that I finally did, I really hope it turns out well.

Mine also just disappeared. The three others are doing fine. One I think might be a sub adult male, bc it has the wing, even though female colored. Possible it killed it? Just totally disappeared.

Hopefully it is hiding as others have said. Out of curiosity do you have a dog or cat?

I had same thing in one of my FW tanks to huge armour shrimp couldn't find one for 2 weeks I moved everything in the tank looked around tank under unit etc then all of a sudden one day there it is livestock seem to have an amazing way of hiding
