Guys, got this RBTA about 1.5 mos ago. It moved a little and decided to stay right under the mp40 power head. The power head is constantly blasting its tennacles to a point where I think its going to lose them. Check out the pic, due to constant back and forth flow, the middle of many tennacles is hair thin, looks like they are about to break. Anything I should do or leave as is? Dont want to forcefully move it, it can do so by itself I guess. I have highlighted the section as an example.

This is normal" behaviour " when they have long tentacles...but they can get very long sometimes and if you see this and they look like they might hit the pump I'd move the pump a little if you can ...sometimes my clowns will even bite them off ...nothing too worry about ....apart from if they do come off and float around they will still sting anything they touch ..just remove them ..

If you haven’t already done so you should put a cover on your mp40 in case the anemone decides to move it won’t get sucked into the pump.

Thanks, guys. Yes, I have seen a few small pieces float around, they are at the bottom, various crevices. I left them naively thinking perhaps they’d grow a new one. They are actually more fluorescent than the actual bta. I wonder why they havent died yet and what happens if I let them stay where they are.

Re the mp40 guard, I have those on both, but thanks for bringing it up, many forget.

True story. Sometimes you gotta mow the lawn. Mine do the same thing. I just fish out the scraps. They usually do it after a split or if one gets damaged (just my personal XP and completely wild speculation). think they're trying to even up the number of tentacles because they know I love symmetry (i'm really just being silly here, but hey, clownfish are ridiculous ;Woot).

Regarding flow, mine hang out right in front of a gyre. They'll cool with it. If they didn't like it they'd move.

Edit: Also, Howdy Neighbor - I'm off of 1488, right outside The Woodlands :)

Hey! Another Woodlands resident here, so that makes 3 of us! Soon there will be dozens of us. Dozens! I remember watching your build thread unfold, amazing stuff man. Shot in the dark, don't suppose you have had any luck finding mini brittle stars anywhere near us?

What are the odds! Great to see another reefer from The Woodlands. No, unfortunately, no luck with brittle stars. Btw, just went through another upgrade. Changed my Nyos to Red Sea new skimmer and added a third AI Hydra 26HD. Here is a sneak peak, updating the build thread next.

Wow man, this remains the gold standard for reef tank setups in my eyes. It's the little things like cable management, and ease of flow manipulation that make this a pleasure to look at.

Thanks, appreciate the kind words, - yes, that was important, I want to enjoy the cabinet as much as the tank, they go hand in hand. Must be OCD in me! I cant picture my tank with a dirty and messy cabinet setup, would drive me dang crazy.
