One of my 11 rose bubble tip anemones looks like it’s splitting. It looks like it’s about 1/2 way split from the bottom up to the mouth. I noticed it when cleaning the edges of the glass today, but my wife thinks it started early last week. I’ve never had one split before so I was looking for guidance on how long of a process this usually is? Before this process it was about 9” across. I can’t get a good picture since the light is ramping down and the window glare didn’t help, but I could tomorrow if you need.

Thank you! 🙏

Nice looking anemone! In my personal experience I have had RBTA’s that started to split and where comepletely separated after 6 - 8 weeks. I have also had RBTA’s that split in 2 days. However, I noticed that in my case the longer it took the anemone to complete the split, the better the health of my anemone.

A quick split in my system meant that my parameters were not that good. After some research I found out if the water parameters are not good for the BTA, they split quickly to increase their survival chances.

So always see a splitting RBTA as a trigger to check your water :) Apart from that, I think yours in the picture is looking amazing!

Thank you for that info! I was amazed how big it got and was wondering if it would split lol. I’m gonna guess it’ll be a longer split after reading your reply and seeing how slow it seems to be doing it. It’s been established in this tank for almost a year. It was about the size of a golf ball when I got it and here’s a picture of it from just 2 weeks ago.
