Welcome to my build thread! (re)build thread. Long story short, I battled prorocentrum dinos for a little over a year. Within that year I tried everything possible to get rid of them with no luck. I almost quit the hobby because dinos made me not want to look at my tank anymore. One day i got the spark to just restart and remove all sand. After 9hours of work and at around 3am or so, my tank was brand new. I decided I wanted to go barebottom after the trauma. Eventually, I added aragonite and everything went well/adjusted just fine with target feeding and waterchanges. I don’t want to bore you with “inbetween” information but feel free to ask any questions about the journey.. here is my tank today! 1 year later with preventative measures for dinos.. I recently moved some stuff around so will update with how it looks now shortly! thanks for looking

How are things coming along now? If you can get live rock and get nitrates and phosphates above zero, like 10 ppm for nitrates and between 0.07 and 0.1 ppm for phosphates your dinos will go the way of the, well, dinos.

everything is back to how it should be so far. no signs of dinos. i dropped in LOADS of live amphipods and different types of live pods (about $300 worth) a couple months after the reset. i have also upped my flow and dose live phyto daily.

Just be careful with the phyto. Too much can make your nitrates and phosphates skyrocket. It can also turn your DT into split pea soup. Of course it’s great for the pods and the corals as long as you don’t overfeed it. I’m glad things are getting better. Keep us updated.

Good for you ! Glad you didn’t quit the hobby and being able to push through that rough patch I believe will ultimately bring you more success in the long run ! Look forward to seeing your progress with this tank!
