Hello all,

When would you say your tank is ready for a Blue Mandrin? My tanks about 9 months old. I added pods around the 2 month mark. I recently did a black out for a couple days to battle some Dinos. So my glass was not cleaned for a few days. When I turned lights back on I could see pods moving around on the glass of my display tank. Would this be an indication of a healthy population?

If he’s the only exclusive POD eater, you are ready.

You are good. Do your self a favor and spend the extra to get a captive bred one from Biota. I have two in a 150 and they do eat pods, but they also will eat pellets and are now big enough to eat fish eggs. They are very small, but grow quickly. Mine has doubled in size in 5 weeks.
