this one has me baffled!
I have and Alkatronic and have been trying to mix reagent. it's a simple 4 to 1 mixture. I also have several bottles of Premix reagent from Coralvue. Also got concentrated reagent from Coralvue for the Alkatronic.

Using CoralVue ready to use reagent in my Alkatronic: tried with several bottles of ready to use and its very consistent.
Alkatronic = 8.87
Hanna = 8.9
Salifert reagent test = 8.9. (used reagent) x 250x 0.056 = 8.9
Actual salifert test = 9.8

My 4 to 1 mix 1 part acid + 4 parts RO. Made several batches using a scale. Each batch was a total mix of 500ml.
Alkatronic = 9.85 consistent against several batches of reagent mix.
Standard Salifert test = 9.8
Salifert reagent test = 9.8 (used reagent) x 250 x 0.056 = 9.8

Not sure what batches to believe. both reagents prove to correctly mixed.

Other Variables. used a 2nd reagent bottle for the Hanna and both tested identical. about 8.9ish
Used 2 bottles of Coralvue Ready to use reagent and get identical results
Used 2 scales and validated each
Mixed the acid 4 to 1 4 different times and got the same results

To really complicate things I also tested with my X10 and get duplicate results as the alkatronic Regardless of reagent.

Completely stumped

I'd use whichever one gives a result consistent with your previous alk measurement method, just so I didn't have to make a mental note to myself ("old 9dkh is = new 10 dkh")

The Alkatronic and X10 are new systems. They are a few weeks old but broken in and correctly calibrated. There is no baseline to determine which is right. in the long run either reagent will work.

this post is more about trying to validate my mixing method and how the normal checks are giving mixed results

In that case, if you need to know if the alk is closer to 9 or 10, I'd use Randy's DIY alk standards.
