Rebracing an Oceanic 210

i recently purchased an old Oceanic 210. The silicone was falling apart so I have torn the tank down to rebuild it. All sides are 1/2”, the bottom is 3/4”, the center top brace is 1/2” x 18”. Can I eurobrace the top of the tank with 2 additional 1/2” x 6” pieces from front to back and remove the center brace? I want to get rid of the plastic banding if possible or atleast not have a 15-18” wide brace right in the middle. This would give euro bracing on all four sides and 2 cross braces. Thanks for any help.
