My current aquarium measures 60x45x40 cm, with a sump measuring 60x30x30 cm. All components were repurposed from a freshwater aquarium.

The aquarium comes with an aluminum profile stand measuring 70x40x65 cm,
which is larger than the tank's dimensions because I initially planned to use a rear overflow box to direct water to the sump. However, I decided to drill the bottom of the tank, which made the setup unbalanced.

The second disadvantage is the sump size. It is 60 cm long but only 30 cm high,
leaving insufficient space to arrange reactors and limiting the amount of filtration media it can hold.

From there, I decided to upgrade my aquarium system to move towards a more professional setup, specifically for keeping SPS and NPS corals.

Let’s get started then!

Next day!

I have found a 744 tank with 8mm sides, a 10mm bottom,
and an ultra-clear front panel at a very reasonable price.
Time to get to work!

I will design a rectangular box with two holes at the bottom for water intake and output. The front panel will be designed with two layers and an open pattern at the bottom to create bottom suction (since the tank does not have a sand substrate).

The reason I’m designing the entire box instead of just two panels to attach to the tank is because I want to use a fast-drying two-part adhesive, which is much stronger and more durable than silicone adhesive — I don’t have to wait 24 hours for it to fully cure.

After finishing the CNC work, I realized how foolish I was for not designing it with a toothed or interlocking pattern. Joining flat pieces is much more difficult than I thought. That is stupid :D

Well, it doesn't look too bad after all!

Let's continue.

Before assembling the box into its final form, I took advantage of the bottom layer, which has two holes of 32mm and 25mm, for drilling. These holes made the drilling process significantly easier.

A small note: we only need to hold the drill steady without pressing it down; otherwise, we might chip the bottom layer. Trust gravity! :)
Tada!

Look at my previous tank

—it's all chipped!

Next, I'll clean the support frame. Just look at the amount of salt and rust after six months! I can't even imagine what it would be like if it were made of steel or even stainless steel.

When I ordered the connectors, I added two filter media bags to my cart to qualify for free shipping. I honestly didn't pay attention to anything else except their price—it was the same as what I had paid before (from a different shop).

Bump!

What should I do with them now? Turn them into laundry bags, perhaps? Haha

Just trust in the water!

Here’s the final result! I’m quite satisfied with it. Now I can move on to other ideas!
