I have been using a skimmer made from my pump. It is really effective in keeping the NP levels in my tank close to zero.
Advantages: Very low power consumption, produces little noise.
However, there are also quite a few disadvantages:

I have 2 designs: one for 3D printing (which I think should probably be done with a resin printer to be usable) and one for CNC cutting – I’m using 3mm acrylic sheets and AB glue to fix the gears onto the base.
I forgot to mention, the pump I’m using is the Marine 2500.
I will also upload the CNC cut design for the 305s pump (which I'm using for the skimmer in my CU40 tank).

- The water flow is not high (although it's more than enough for my tank).
- Cleaning and adjusting the water level need to be done frequently.
- I believe that my zooplankton might get destroyed when passing through it =))
