Recommend a Good Fish Trap??

Can anyone recommend a good fish trap? I may try to catch my pink spot goby. A few months ago it bit my YWG (one of my 1st & favorite fish) on the head). My YWG is totally recovered -just scraped her behind gills on either side. But now stupid pink spot is actually in YWG's cave.
Pink Spot usually only comes out @ night and never shifts sand -mean & lazy. But it moves like lightening when startled. I'm ready to catch pink spot & give it away.

I've had good success with the Aqua Medic fish trap, but only with open water swimmers. Not sure how well it would work with perching/burrowing fish like a goby.

I got a red fish net, harder to see in the dark, and found mine's sleeping space. Took a clear rod and scared it into the net. Never had any luck with fish traps.

That sounds good -where did you find red net? On Amazon? I've only seen blue

Those suckers are fast. You might have to starve your tank to make them hungry, turn off your pumps and put some food in the net. Put the net in the tank and let it rest near where you think you can catch him, leave it there so they can get used to it. Have you tried to make your own trap with a liter bottle, same thing though put some food in the back end and place near the opening of the cave. You might catch everyone else first hehe.

I might make a bottle trap. It will be very tough to get it. It's like the pink spot knows I don't like it since it bit my YWG. It sees me , gives me a hard stare then in a flash dives into a cave.

I've always taken apart my entire tank to catch fish which is a pain but it takes an hour or two from start to finish. After spending hours trying to catch fish I realized that although it's annoying it's the best way.

However I have a fish trap on Amazon I've used with success with a trap door that suction cups to the side of the tank, it works well for tangs and fish that swim in the water column -- not sure on gobies

Think I'm going to try the fish trap or net route. I will check out those traps...My tank is peaceful and my fish are big babies. If I took tank apart they would stress. I just added a new ember blenny. He just started peeking & coming our a little.

I'm a little conflicted. The YWG turns gray when she is upset. She was a nice yellow even though the pink spot was in her cave. Maybe they have called a 'truce'? I'm just very attached to YWG.

I had a pair for awhile until somehow one jumped out of a canopy tank! I made them a pair - a tiny one and a medium/lg.

They do change color with stress

Yes! I bought my YWG started as a part of a bonded pair. She was grayer, he was yellow - both very tiny. I lost him about 8 months ago. He kept getting in overflow or filter sox and one day I couldn't find him anywhere. She wouldn't eat for many days afterward.
The YWG now lives with bluespot jawfish. Should I try to get her a mate in future or leave her solo?

Pairing them is really difficult and risky, IMO. My pairing was actually an accident, I thought the small one died.

Get the smallest fishing hookk you can find, put a sinker on the bottom of the line, and a piece of shrimp, piscine mysis works well, and get it to flow by the pink spotted watchman's burrow. Gobies rarely get caught via fishtrap.

Pairing ywg isn't that difficult. They are protogynous hermaphrodites, so getting a smaller specimen should result in a pr.

That makes sense based on my experience.

I remember hearing horror stories of people trying. Perhaps they were trying two of the same size?

I admittedly don't know nearly as much about gobies.

If the pink spot and yellow watchman have been together, and the last aggression was months age, personally I would think they have worked out their social dynamic and just leave them be. Usually they're pretty tolerant of one another, and should continue to coexist. However, if it is a worry that will continue in the back of your mind, removing the pink spot may put you at ease.

Thanks. The pink spot just moved into YWG's cave yesterday. So I wanted to have a rescue plan in case it went after the YWG again. I will definitely leave pink spot in tank, if no aggression occurs. Appreciate everyone's great input and help.
