Hi guys, i have a small nano 10g net.

I am having problem with this algae, it's been a while that i can't get rid of it, i have treated with caco3 and microbacter7 for a while, i have vacuumed regularly the slice of sand affected but it keeps coming back.

Param are:
temp 25
ph 8.5
kh 9.3
no3 2
po4 0.03
ca 380
mg 1340

I have a daily awc of 10% weekly (600ml a day), chaeto reactor (for now chaeto is growing well and fast, i dose once a week chaeto grow but algae problem started before that).

I am dosing 0.33dkh daily with randy's soda ash recipe (diluited)

I use 2x 30w lominie pixie 30.

My light schedule is:
7 to 7.30am ramp up to 100% blue and royal
7.30 to 12.45 + ramp up to 30% red/green + 60% white
12.50 to 19.30 ramp down to 80% blue and royal, 0% green/red 40% white
19.30 to 20.00 all to 0%

Can it be too much light?

I have been told that i could solve it probably with a rip clean but pulling out the rocks scape isn't a option.

I tought to vacuum out all the sand and replace it with new one
but i've got told isn't a good idea. Chemiclean isn't readily available in france. I can find ciano RX or korallen zucht cyano clean.

What you guys suggest?

I make a product that's very effective for Cyano......it's called Red Cyano Rx by Blue Life USA....been selling it for over 15 years and it works great. Just dose in the am and wait 2-3 days before you change water on your normal cycle....you can beat it.

Sorry.....will not affect corals or fish...totally safe. Dose in the am, and wait 2-3 days......then do your scheduled water changes.

hey man, got the redcyano RX but i have a couple questions that aren't very clear ofr me.

I will dose in the morning as prescribed, i will wait till when before to do the 25% water change? It say "after desired results are visible perform a 25% water change" so, once dosed i should wait few hours, or few days? It should have effect in like 10/12hrs max, more, less?

thank you for answering! last one...so skimmer and carbon should not be used during those 2/3 days?
No skimmer and you can expect the skimmer to foam over when you turn it back on so keep the water level low when you restart it. No carbon for sure until after the after change.

sorry man, i have dosed the cyano, as you adviced i have waited 2 days before doing the 25% water change. All is good and ciano disappeared. Yesterday i have done the water change, added activated crbon and turned on the skimmer, today, after 24hr the skimmer is still going crazy, is it normal? i should do another WC? How long should i expect (roughly) for the skimmer to be back to normal?

I know when people use products like chemiclean for cyano the skimmer typically takes multiple days to recover so its probably similar with the product you used. Water change never hurts. Carbon is doing its thing. Try and pull a few dirty skimmer cups of foam out before your water change.

Glad it cleared up and sorry about the skimmer foam. It’s not always an issue but does happen. It will clear up soon with or without multiple water changes so just hang in there and run the skimmer as dry as you can.
