Hi guys,

I have a red fire shrimp that I've had for a couple of years now. Today I've noticed that one of his front claws looks broken. He doesn't swim as well as he used to. The only change I have is a very large Emerald crab added about a week ago, he has large pincers. Can someone recommend anything I can do? Or is the inevitable likely to happen and he dies 😕.

Thanks in advance

You could try to catch him and put him in the sump if you have one, maybe he can recover.

If you had it for a couple years already, it could be at the end of its life, I don't think these last TOO long, maybe 2-3 years.

Shrimp during the molting process can repair their limbs, but what bluemon says is also true: the shrimp could already be at the end of its life, but you have nothing to lose by trying to separate it and see if it recovers.

Yes I'll do that and thanks to those who have responded, much appreciated.
