I would really like to try a refugium again but not with cheato. I have tried cheato several times with 3 different lights and it just slowly melts away.

I am looking to try a red macro in hopes that I might be able to keep that alive. What type should I be looking for and where is a good place to purchase from?

TIA

In my experience, if the cheato isn't doing well i'm not sure how well other macros would do. For me, my macros struggled until I started adding cheatogro and raised my nutrients a little. Ive used a broad spectrum and red-blue grow light and they both worked - so your light definitely isn't the problem. The cheato took off first, then my codium and finally my halymenia.
