I purchased a Red Planet frag about 3 weeks ago and had it in my tank about 10" below a Powermodule and it colored up even better than it originally looked, but it was getting blasted with flow from a MP10 and the polyps wouldnt fully extend so I moved it down 2" about a week ago and the color has faded:sad:.What is the normal tank placement for the Red Planet under a ATI Powermodule do they crave high intensity lighting or should they be fine at 12" below the Powermodule? Thanks in advance:wink:

Higher and the green will go away. Lower and it will keep the green in most cases. It will thrive in either condition. I would recommend about 12-18" below the lightsource. It's a great coral!

I just bought one about a month ago and it was pink from to much light in the tank it came from. I put it very low in the tank and it already getting alot of green. Most ora acros need low light to retain the color that is advertised.
Good Luck

The one's i have stay red as can be on the bottom of my tank which is around 28" below my 250w mh. If i raise it half up or 10-14" below the mh it turns green.

I have the same experience. My favorite acropora that I own.

My Vote is high light, High Flow

It will grow quickly... The vast majority of the colony will be Red/Pink and the base will just almost always still retain green... Lower light will accentuate the growth of the green

Mg+ seems important to the vibrant colors also... But you already knew that :)

Here's mine. Its about 12" from my T5s with medium flow. Its actually a nicer red than I was able to capture in the pic.

mine is about 10 -12 inches under water and directly below the 250w MH and gets a good amount of flow
it is green at the base and greener on the bottom but very pink on top
