Red reefer 250

Welcome to my new tank build. I picked up this red sea reefer 250 used with a pair of kessil a360we lights. This past week I started acquiring gear during BRS's sale and give away.

Still a little ways from starting the tank(have to finish the floor in the room were the tank is going.

One question that I have for everyone is I watched the video from Dr. Tim on cycling were he talks about cycling at lower salinity and higher temp. Let me know your thoughts and experiences with doing this.

A little update on the tank. Got the rock work done and in the tank today. Sand arrives tomorrow then maybe water in the tank this weekend. Going to use the macrobacterstartXLM fish less method.

Nice start! I like your rockwork. The angles feel like natural geological formations plus a sweet archway. I'm building a 250 too and figuring out my rockscape. I look forward to following along!

It worked. I did seem to have a hiccup in the beginning. Followed the directions but after day 7 I wasn't seeing the ammonia dropping so I added more of the startxlm but this time I shook up the bottle a little. When I poured it in it looked different (first time I added it was clear, after shaking it was a little brown.) After that I saw drop in ammonia the next day. Its almost complete just some nitrites to come down.

Congrats on the fish! The storm is super cute. Looks like he's wearing a gladiator helmit. Your tank looks so clear. Did you add ammonia or just the bottle of the quick cycle bacteria?

Looking good like your scape.. I have a build thread for my reefer 250 and tank is its just little over a year old..

A little update on the tank. Tank is doing well. Still fighting diatoms a little. Coral in the tank and doing well.

Haven't updated in a bit. Tank has had a couple of ups and downs. Right now got it back on track. Just ordered apex stuff to do auto water changes.
