I have a redsea 425 G2 and hoping to see how you guys have set up your sump. Currently I have my emergency pipe followed by my reef mat with live rock below, next chamber I have my skimmer and then return chamber. Is this correct or should it be emergency reed mat + skimmer next chamber would be refugium and then return chamber?

Any help and guidence would be appreciated

I have a reef mat, refugium (dragon's breath), simplicity skimmer, with some live rock.

I don't have the 425 but the 300 with no reef mat. Refugium, skimmer and return pump.

I have an RS Max 500, but I also run my e drain through my RM1200. But I only do that on the Max not my Reefer. The Max has that rear chamber for the weir and the 3 pumps. That area really is an aiptasia farm if you aren’t careful. What I have discovered is that with the E drain through the reef mat, I don’t get aiptasia in the sump. Each time I change a roll, there are about 30 aiptasia in the Reefmat, not the sump. One time nutrients were getting low, so I removed the edrain to allow some to bypass the roller and Aiptasia started showing up in the sump. I also run my roller pump (I use two pumps always) so that it is only turning the sump about 4 times an hour.

In my reefer, I do not run my Edrain through my roller. I also run that roller (500) pump so that it turns the sump about 4 times an hour also. I notice the tank with the edrain that is never in the roller has much higher nutrients.
