So I’ve switched on my protein skimmer today, to start that bedding in. I’ve found that it’s pretty loud at present (certainly in comparison to the return pump).

How long does it generally take to bed in? Does it get quieter once it’s bedded in?
Are there any tips for keeping it quiet?

(I’m using the stock skimmer that comes with the Red Sea Max Nano G2)

My skimmer was pretty noisy ( not the same brand or anything just a standard in sump skimmer) even after broken in. You could hear the motor but mostly the bubbles. So in my experience that’s pretty normal. If the whole thing is rattling though I don’t think that that is normal and may be sat in there wrong. Yours in a hang in the back right? Mine had suction cups on the bottom to help alleviate some of that rattle. I’m not sure if there’s anything to help with a hang in.

Thanks for the response.

I’m seriously hoping it’s quietens down after breaking in a bit. It’s significantly louder than the return pump, which is a gentle hum. The tank was a perfect noise level before switching that on lol.
