Hi Paul and Welcome to R2R!!!

Ive got the S650 and the standard pump is rated around 7500 lph so you need something around that level of power or thereabouts

Hi all. I’m not new to marine, but am very new to Red Sea max tanks. Also I’ve never run with a sump before so I’m tot clueless as to where to start lol. The tank I purchased was filthy but a good price and no damage other than one or two bits missing that the seller failed to inform me about. My first question is, it didn’t come with a return main pump so has anyone got one for sale or can recommend an alternative that’ll fit. I have got a spare jecod dcp 2500 , would this be any good,and will it just retro-fit etc. It’s taken me some time to clean the back chamber, it was really encrusted in there. So I look forward to any kind input, and thanks for the opportunity to post in here. Regards Paul.
Welcome!

Thankyou very much all for your lovely welcomes. And for the input so far. I shall keep updating. Also I’m going to start a new thread on the new build Red Sea. It’ll be a few days til I’m actually fully ready, Just awaiting fitters to fit my new wood floor in the room where I wish the tank to go. Cant wait. Thanks all again. Paul.

Welcome let me run you threw your options;

Algae scrubber vs skimmer

A algae scubber uses nutrients to grow algae that will outcomplete or try to other algae. A skimmer will attempt to remove those nutrients before they are able decompose.

Filter socks vs Filter Fleece Roller

filter socks are great but are often annoying to clean and if I could change choose differently I would. Two options of filter rollers are A. Something you plumb out and back in like the Claris-Sea SK, B. Look into the Klir DI-4, you can slide it into the slot of a filter sock.

Refugium: a refugium is similar to a scrubber besides the fact it’s focus is on cultivating pods so if you are interested in a leopard wrasse or mandarin you may want to look into it
Lol. Think this reply is maybe for someone else.

HI PAUL!! I have a Red Sea Max E-260 with a sump. You will like having it as it makes water changes easier. I run the Vectra S2, so you would want the M2 for your return. Skimmer you could go with the Red Sea SK-300 or a Reef Octopus 220. When doing W/C, just put the return into feed mode and leave your DT circulation pumps going. Using a powerhead you can connect a tube to it to siphon out the water from the sump, then use it to put water back in.

Hi everybody once again thanks for all your welcomes and great replies. I’ve not been very well lately so not been up to much tank wise. I managed to source a secondhand (albeit only 3 month old jebao unit that is much more suitable ) I’ve meticulously cleaned it all out now and started seeding some nice pieces of rock using Dr timms and a gud ol fresh prawn. So things going well that side. All I need to do now ( All he says ) is basically plumbing then filling so I may want or should I say “will” need help on the plumbing side of things because I’ve a little stumped on that. . This being my first real sumped tank and all.
I’d love to share pictures of my progress so I shall go and try that now. Once again Thankyou all for the lovely welcome.
