Welcome!Hi all. I’m not new to marine, but am very new to Red Sea max tanks. Also I’ve never run with a sump before so I’m tot clueless as to where to start lol. The tank I purchased was filthy but a good price and no damage other than one or two bits missing that the seller failed to inform me about. My first question is, it didn’t come with a return main pump so has anyone got one for sale or can recommend an alternative that’ll fit. I have got a spare jecod dcp 2500 , would this be any good,and will it just retro-fit etc. It’s taken me some time to clean the back chamber, it was really encrusted in there. So I look forward to any kind input, and thanks for the opportunity to post in here. Regards Paul.
Lol. Think this reply is maybe for someone else.Welcome let me run you threw your options;
Algae scrubber vs skimmer
A algae scubber uses nutrients to grow algae that will outcomplete or try to other algae. A skimmer will attempt to remove those nutrients before they are able decompose.
Filter socks vs Filter Fleece Roller
filter socks are great but are often annoying to clean and if I could change choose differently I would. Two options of filter rollers are A. Something you plumb out and back in like the Claris-Sea SK, B. Look into the Klir DI-4, you can slide it into the slot of a filter sock.
Refugium: a refugium is similar to a scrubber besides the fact it’s focus is on cultivating pods so if you are interested in a leopard wrasse or mandarin you may want to look into it
